Bible Scriptures about Women
Inspirational Scriptures about Women
A kindhearted woman gains respect, but ruthless men
gain only wealth.
A wife of noble character is her husband's crown,
but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own
hands the foolish one tears hers down.
A foolish son is his father's ruin, and a
quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.
Better to live on a corner of the roof than to share
a house with a quarrelsome wife.
...and also some women who had been cured of evil
spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from
whom seven demons had come out; 3Joanna the wife of
Cuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and
many others. These women were helping to support
them out of their own means.
Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work
hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis,
another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 7:34
But a married man is concerned about the affairs of
this world—how he can please his wife— and his
interests are divided. An woman or virgin is
concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be
devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a
married woman is concerned about the affairs of this
world—how she can please her husband. I am saying
this for your own good, not to restrict you, but
that you may live in a right way in undivided
devotion to the Lord.
1 Corinthians 11:8-9,11-12
For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;
neither was man created for woman, but woman for
man..... In the Lord, however, woman is not
independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.
For as woman came from man, so also man is born of
woman. But everything comes from God.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male
nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For
the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the
head of the church, his body, of which he is the
Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also
wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the
church and gave himself up for her to make her holy,
cleansing her by the washing with water through the
word, and to present her to himself as a radiant
church, without stain or wrinkle or any other
blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way,
husbands ought to love their wives as their own
bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After
all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds
and cares for it, just as Christ does the church —
for we are members of his body. "For this reason a
man will leave his father and mother and be united
to his wife, and the two will become one
flesh."[This is a profound mystery — but I am
talking about Christ and the church. However, each
one of you also must love his wife as he loves
himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the
1 Timothy 2:9-10
I also want women to dress modestly, with decency
and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or
pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds,
appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
1 Timothy 3:11
In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy
of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and
trustworthy in everything.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in
the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted
to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they
can train the younger women to love their husbands
and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be
busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their
husbands, so that no one will malign the word of
